Computers connected to the Internet have unique numerical addresses so that electronic information is delivered to the right place. The domain name system (DNS) translates the numerical addresses of computers into more user-friendly names. The resulting domain names are easier to remember and help people to find information on the Internet.
Domain names are used to identify particular web pages. For example, in the web site address "/" the domain name is ssiweb.co.uk.
Domain names are also used in e-mail addresses, for example, user@ssiweb.co.uk, that enables people to send and receive electronic messages.
After you have found an available domain name via our WHOIS search, please contact SSIWEB by phone on 01935 434734, or use our online application form. A member of staff will take details required for registration.
Please see our pricing table for domain name costs.
No, domain names are allocated on a first come first server basis.
Please use the WHOIS facility to search for your domain name. When it has been registered your details will be displayed.
Contact us with the correct details. We will then update your details for you.
The renewal date given on the WHOIS is the next date on which the domain name is due to be renewed (i.e. two years after the original registration or last renewal was made). A renewal fee must be paid before a domain name can be renewed.
The renewal date will be updated once we have been paid for the domain name renewal. At this point, the listing will be changed to show the date on which the domain name is next due for renewal.
In general every two years.
There are various mechanisms where you can dispute the ownership of a domain name. In general these mechanisms vary depending on the domain extension i.e. .uk or .com. Please see our resource area on domain names for more information.
Please contact us and we will supply instructions for transferring to SSIWEB.
