Usability testing has been around for a long time, and the basic idea is pretty simple: If you want to know whether your web site is easy enough to use, watch some people while they try and use it and note when they run into trouble. Then fix it, and test it again.

In the beginning, usability testing was very expensive.  You needed observation rooms, at least two cameras, one way mirrors etc.  However with the advent of screen recording technology costs have been slashed.

Usability testing does not need to be expensive or time consuming. We can deliver a 6-participant usability test in 2 days.  Costs for this can start around £300+participiant fees.

So what do you do for a website usability test?

1. Select testers from our database
2. Users carry out a series of screen and audio recorded tests under the direction of a project team member
3. Members of the project team meet to playback recorded tests - discuss finding and recommend solutions
4. You meet with SSIWEB to review recorded tests and discuss our recommendations
5. Recorded tests are made available on CD

Whenever we have carried out testing on a customer site the results from this procedure have always been revealing for both us and you the customer.  The resulting modifications on the site have meant a more successful website.
